This year more than ever, the Plein la Bobine Festival offers you a complete change of scenery with the “Travel journals” retrospective – 14 films which will take you to the 5 continents…

The festival trailer, made by children from the Sancy area under the supervision of filmmaker Jeanne Paturle, is all about travelling. A showcase for the festival, this short film was made in the context of a workshop called “Atelier Cinéma du Sancy”, organized in partnership with the “Massif du Sancy” Community. It will be shown at the beginning of every screening at the Casino in La Bourboule.

The Mighty River and The King of the Cloud Forest

From age 5

A programme of 2 animated short films

50 minutes

The Mighty River (Le Fleuve aux grandes eaux)

Frédéric Back / Canada / 1993 / Animation / 24’ / 35mm / In French

This poetic animation film is a love song, a tribute to a gentle giant whose beauty we have taken for granted. The film has a lot to teach us: about the history of the river and its astounding riches; and about the people who have lived, and continue to live, on its shores. The story of the St. Lawrence is the story of the rivers of the world. It is the story of life itself - a fragile life that tentatively takes hold and then bursts forth. A life that abounds seemingly without end, only to wither under the relentless attacks of a rapacious and reckless humankind.
